What We Do With Your File, Your Email and Your Money
Plain answers: what we collect when you upload a model or ask for a quote, how long we keep it, and who else sees it. The complete cookie list lives on its own page, and the commercial terms live with the contract — this page links to both rather than copying them.
Who we are
LASEM is the brand name of an independent manufacturing business based in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. We provide on-demand 3D printing (SLA, SLS and SLM) and related engineering services to customers worldwide, and we are the data controller for the personal data described on this page.
Our company registration is being finalised. When it completes we will publish the registered entity name and address here; until then, this notice is served by the business trading as LASEM in Guangzhou. You can reach us at david.chen@lasem3dprint.com.
What we collect
Details you type in: your name, email address, company, country, quantity and any message you send us.
The 3D model you upload, together with its file name and size.
The quote you were shown and the printability result, so that we can talk to you about the same numbers you saw.
Technical data our hosting provider records automatically, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is ordinary web server logging.
Analytics data, only if you allow analytics cookies (see below).
We never ask for card or bank details on this site, and we never see them.
Everything a page needs in order to render — its fonts, its styling and its scripts — is served from our own domain, and none of it is served to a third-party host.
One exception, stated plainly: the instant quote needs a USD/CNY rate, so your browser asks a public currency-rate service (open.er-api.com) for one. That request goes out from your browser to that service directly, and it does not depend on your analytics choice — the quote is part of the working site, not part of tracking. Like every request from a browser, the service sees your IP address and user agent. We send it no cookie, no analytics identifier and nothing about you beyond the rate request itself. If the service cannot be reached, the quote falls back to a stored conservative rate and tells you so on screen rather than guessing silently.
If you would rather it did not
The rate is cached in your own browser for an hour, so the request is made about once an hour at most, and not at all while a fresh cached value is being used.
Blocking requests to that service in your browser or ad blocker stops it. The quote then runs on the stored fallback rate and labels itself as offline, so you can wait for a real rate before you treat the number as final.
We can also proxy the rate through our own server so that your browser never talks to a third party at all — we have not done this because a server-side rate would be fresher than a cached one, but say the word and we will switch it.
Why we use it, and on what basis
To prepare your quote, send it to you and answer your questions — this is processing you asked for before entering into a contract.
To produce and deliver an order you place, including customs paperwork — this is performance of a contract.
To keep records of quotes and orders, and to improve the quoting engine — our legitimate interest in running the business.
Analytics cookies — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
The instant quote is produced automatically from your model’s geometry. It has no legal effect on you: no decision with legal consequences is taken by a machine alone, an engineer reviews every model before production, and the price we send you in writing is confirmed by a person.
How long we keep it
Quotes and uploaded models are kept for 12 months from your last contact with us, and are then deleted.
Order, invoice and customs records are kept for as long as tax and export law requires.
You can ask us to delete your uploaded file and your quote record sooner, and we will do it unless the law obliges us to keep an order record.
Your 3D model is yours
The model you upload remains your intellectual property. We use it only to check printability, price the job and — if you order — produce the part.
We do not publish it, we do not resell it, and we do not show it to anyone outside the people doing the work. If you want it deleted, ask and we will delete it.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers who process it only on our instructions: Cloudflare (website hosting and file storage), Resend (sending our email), Google (analytics, only if you allow analytics), Ahrefs (analytics, only if you allow analytics), and — for orders you place — the shipping carrier and the customs broker handling your shipment.
Some of these providers are outside your country. Cloudflare, Resend, Google and Ahrefs all operate globally and may process data in the United States. Where personal data leaves the UK or the EEA we rely on the standard contractual clauses in their data processing terms, and where a provider is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework we rely on that certification. Ask us and we will tell you which safeguard applies to a particular transfer.
Your rights
If you are in the UK, the EU or another jurisdiction with similar law, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or send it to you in a portable format, and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
Email david.chen@lasem3dprint.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 and Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand which pages are useful and where visitors give up. Neither is used for advertising, neither is used to build a profile of you for retargeting, and we never sell cookie data. Ahrefs counts visits in aggregate and writes nothing at all to your device.
Because a list like this drifts the moment a provider changes something, we keep exactly one copy of it: the cookie notice is the complete list of everything that can be stored on your device — the two analytics cookies, the two strictly-necessary cookies our CDN issues, and the two storage keys we write ourselves to remember your answer. This page does not repeat it, because two lists that disagree are worse than none.
None of it is loaded until you choose. On your first visit a notice at the bottom of the page asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Accepting loads them; declining leaves the site exactly as it is, including the instant quote. Nothing is measured about you before you answer, and no cookie is written before you answer.
When you answer we record the choice and the time you made it, so that we can show your decision was taken freely and can be withdrawn just as freely. If you accept, one further event goes to Google Analytics saying only that consent was granted — it carries nothing about you. If you decline, nothing is sent anywhere at all.
— this brings the notice back so you can switch either way, and it also clears the cookies Google Analytics already wrote. Withdrawing takes exactly one click, the same as giving consent did. You can also block cookies in your browser settings at any time; every part of the site still works without them.
Quote terms — and where the rest of them live
The instant quote is an indication, not an offer and not a binding price. It is calculated in your browser from your model’s geometry and from published market rates for on-demand printing. Nothing on this site is an offer capable of acceptance.
The production price can differ from it. An engineer reviews the model before production, and may choose a different build orientation, support strategy, nesting or machine; the model may need to be repaired or adjusted before it can be printed; and surface finish, tolerances, testing, certification, freight and duties are confirmed case by case. We send you the exact price in writing, with the lead time, and you approve it before any work starts. If we cannot produce your part as drawn, we tell you before we take the job rather than after.
Everything else you agree to when you order — how payment works, when the balance falls due, how you inspect the parts before they ship, what happens if a part turns out to be out of specification, and which law governs the contract — is written out once, in full, in our terms of sale. That page is the contract; this page is the privacy notice, and where the two ever appear to disagree about a commercial term, the terms of sale govern.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and change the date below. Material changes that affect existing customers will also be sent by email.
